Pastor's Last Sermon
"We Are a People of Destiny"
Kevin Powers

Daniel 12:9 says that in the last days knowledge will be increased. That has certainly been the case over the course of the last 100 years!

God has appointed the last days for the pouring out of His Spirit. He will pour out the former rain and the latter rain together!

Joel 2:23 Be glad then, ye children of Zion, and rejoice in the Lord your God: for he hath given you the former rain moderately, and he will cause to come down for you the rain, the former rain, and the latter rain in the first month.

Zech. 10:1 Ask ye of the Lord rain in the time of the latter rain; so the Lord shall make bright clouds, and give them showers of rain, to every one grass in the field.

Satan is trying to knock us out of the race before God's appointed time for this occurrence. We need to discern the times in which we are living, so that we are not knocked out; so that we hang on till the appointed time.

Right now it looks as if things are simply continuing as they always have been, but the Lord has promised!! And He will do it!!

Bro. Powers brought out the parable where the farmer had planted his crops, and, at night, the enemy had come and sown tares among his good seed. Some of the things that are "coming up" in our lives are a work of the enemy---not things that we have sown. We need to discern this, so we don't give up just because something not so pleasant has befallen us. Just like Job. He was a just, upright man, yet the Lord allowed Satan to touch everything he had --- even his body.

Great trials produce strong roots. When one has a great root system, the tree will be huge! Then others can partake of the goodness of the Lord in us---(we are the planting of the Lord)!

When Satan killed all Job's livestock, he was unable to make sacrifice to the Lord, and the hedge that was around him came down.

The sacrifice is PRAISE!! When Satan begins to touch the "things" in our life (our stuff), we need to remember not to cease praising the Lord. This will keep the hedge up!

In the end of Job's testing, the Lord had his friends who had done nothing to help Job, come to him for prayer. This was the last test for Job also. Many times when someone (a brother or sister) has done us wrong, we will not pray for them. Job did the right thing. He DID pray for them, and the Lord "turned the captivity of Job when he prayed for his friends."
