"Trusting God"
October 15, 2000
Doyle Barnett

Proverbs 3:1-10 My son, forget not my law; but let thine heart keep my commandments: [2] For length of days, and long life, and peace, shall they add to thee. [3] Let not mercy and truth forsake thee: bind them about thy neck; write them upon the table of thine heart: [4] So shalt thou find favour and good understanding in the sight of God and man. [5] TRUST in the Lord with ALL thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. [6] In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. [7] Be not wise in thine own eyes: fear the Lord, and depart from evil. [8] It shall be health to thy navel, and marrow to thy bones. [9] Honour the Lord with thy substance, and with the firstfruits of all thine increase: [10] So shall thy barns be filled with plenty, and thy presses shall burst out with new wine.

If we really trust Him we will give Him control of every area of our lives.

"T" in trust stands for "take inventory". Ask ourselves if God is really in control in each area.

"R" stands for recognizing that God is our source. We need to realize that God has given us everything that we have, and He is everything that we need.

"U" stands for understanding God's principles. Pastor Doyle listed 3 reasons why people don't serve God. First, they want to meet their own needs rather than meeting others needs. They are selfish. The second reason is that they don't think they are able to serve God. And the third is that they don't plan ahead to serve God. They don't make preparations. If we understand God's principles we will be able to serve Him!

Then Pastor Doyle listed things that make us a good minister.

* God being in charge!

*Give and grow--we grow by giving to others.

*Do it NOW!! Start right where you are. If you wait till you are perfect, you will never start!

*We are a debtor to God: to preach the gospel--we are to give others everything that we have received from the Lord!

We can only keep what we GIVE away!
