"Daughter of Zion"
February 20, 2000

Text: Isaiah 52

"Awake, awake:put on thy strength, O Zion; put on thy beautiful garments, O Jerusalem, the holy city; for henceforth there shall no more come into thee the uncircumcised and the unclean."

"Shake thyself for the dust; arise, and sit down, O Jerusalem: loose thyself from the bands of thy neck, O captive daughter of Zion."

Pastor Doyle brought out how the daughter of Zion lay in the dust--stunned, defenseless, and captive by her own will.

From chapters 50, 51 and 52 of Isaiah we see that she wanted 3 things: to be delivered quickly, for her slavery to be removed, and not to be cut off from her spiritual food.

In Isaiah 49:14-16, Zion thinks the Lord has forgotten her, but the Lord says he will NEVER forget her.

In Christ, the Lord has raised us up out of the dust of the earth, saved us, delivered us, and clothed us.

Isaiah 61:10

I will greatly rejoice in the Lord, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath CLOTHED me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

Isaiah 61:3

"...garment of praise, for the spirit of heaviness."

2Chronicles 6:41

"...let thy priests, O Lord God, be CLOTHED with salvation..."

Psalms 93:1

"The Lord reigneth, He is CLOTHED with majesty; the Lord is CLOTHED with strength wherewith He hath girded himself."

Psalm 104:1

"...thou art CLOTHED with honor and majesty."

Psalm 132:9

"Let thy priests be CLOTHED with rithteousness..."

Rev. 3:5

He that overcometh, the same shall be CLOTHED in white raiment; and I will not blot out his name out of the book of life, but I will confess his name before my Father, and before his angels.

Rev. 3:18

I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be CLOTHED, and that the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and anoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see.

Rev. 7:9

After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, CLOTHED with white robes, and palms in their hands;

Rev. 19:14

And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, CLOTHED in fine linen, white and clean.
