"God Desires a People Who Will Seek His Face"

Text: Exodus 19:5-25

Ex. 19:5--"Now therefore, if ye will obey my voice indeed, and keep my covenant, then ye shall be a peculiar treasure unto me above all people: for all the earth is mine."

God wants us to be set apart for His use! We keep His covenant by giving up our life. "Whosoever shall lose his life for My sake, shall find it!"(Mt.16:25)

Ex.19:6--"And ye shall be unto me a kingdom of priests, and an holy nation. These are the words which thou shalt speak unto the children of Israel."

Pastor Doyle brought out how the priests went into the most holy place only after allowing the incense to fill the place with a cloud of incense so that they were unable to see anything in that place and would have to feel their way around to sprinkle the blood on the mercy seat. The incense is a type of the prayers of the saints. It prepares the place for a meeting with God.

In verse 9 of Exodus 19, God told Moses that He would meet him in a thick cloud.

In verse 10, the Lord told Moses to go unto the people to sanctify them, and for the people to wash their clothes and prepare for God to come down and meet with them on the third day. The people did as the Lord commanded Moses, and God did come down on the third day. In verse 16, it says,"there were thunders and lightnings, and a thick cloud upon the mount, and the voice of the trumpet exceeding loud; so that all the people that were in the camp trembled."

In the next chapter,20, verse 18,"when the people saw it, they removed, and stood afar off." Verse 19, "And they said unto Moses,"Speak thou with us, and we will hear: but let not God speak with us, lest we die."

Moses told the people not to be afraid. In verse 20 he said, "Fear not: for God is come to prove you, and that his fear may be before your faces, that ye sin not."

God wanted the people to see Him the way He is. And He wanted to speak to them. He didn't want them to be afraid, but to fear Him. To respect Him. To be in awe and reverence of Him, but not afraid to approach Him or be with Him.

In Hebrews 12, verses 22 through 29 says, " But ye are come unto mount Sion, and unto the city of the living God, the heavenly Jerusalem, and to an innumerable company of angels, to the general assembly and church of the firstborn, which are written in heaven, and to God the Judge of all, and to the spirits of just men made perfect, and to Jesus the mediator of the new covenant, and to the blood of sprinkling, that speaketh better things than that of Abel. See that ye refuse not him that speaketh. For if they escaped not who refused him that spake on earth, much more shall not we escape, if we turn away from him that speaketh from heaven: whose voice then shook the earth: but now he that promised, saying, " Yet once more I shake not the earth only, but also heaven. And this word, "Yet once more", signifieth the removing of those things that are shaken, as of things that are made, that those things which cannot be shaken may remain. Wherefore we, receiving a kingdom which cannot be moved, let us HAVE GRACE, whereby we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly FEAR: For our God is a consuming fire!

This shows our new covenant, made between God and Jesus, which will stand forever, and how God still wants us to come to Him, make a place for Him, and fellowship with Him. He has cleansed us with the blood of Jesus and given us His grace so we can come into His presence and have relationship with Him (meet with Him).

We need to lose our life daily. Paul said I crucify myself daily. We need to prepare a place for God daily. As we do this He will increase in us and we will decrease!
