"Getting Personal with God"
June 11, 2000
Pamela Barnett

We need to get personal with Jesus. Every day. Not simply when we come to Him for salvation. But every day, we need to realize our need of Him, and let Him meet us individually and personally. We need to ALLOW Him to know us--get intimate with us.

John 11:2 -- Jesus was talking about the city where Mary lived. This was the sister of Lazarus and this was the Mary who came and brought the alabaster box of ointment and washed Jesus feet with her tears and her hair and anointed him with the ointment. This Mary was intimate with Jesus.

In Luke 10:38 it portrays this Mary as sitting at the feet of Jesus instead of being "careful and troubled about many things" as her sister Martha was.

We need to be like Mary, and choose the better part--sitting at Jesus feet and learning of Him.

Jesus told Martha that ONE thing is needful. NEEDFUL! We NEED to sit at Jesus' feet. We NEED to hear what He is saying to us -- every day!

Letting Jesus know us, is to say we NEED Him; to acknowledge our total emptiness without Him!

In Matthew 27:22, Pilate asked the Jews, "What shall I do with Jesus who is called the Christ?"

We should to realize that this is the most important thing we will ever do in our life -- decide what WE will do with Jesus called the Christ!

And we should to decide this on a daily basis.

No matter what our need is, Jesus is standing there waiting for us to come to Him and get intimate with Him -- to tell Him that we need Him -- to tell Him that we can't make it without Him.
